Freckles' brother is now
a pet therapy dog, too!

January 2007--Leegle Beagle, Freckles' older brother,
passed his Delta Society International registration exam!
As does Freckles, Leegle will be working through
Paws With A Purpose in Asheville, NC, helping to
bring smiles to the faces of children.

What teachers & librarians are saying
about Paul and Freckles' school presentations:

"The teachers were thrilled with Paul's presentation -- particularly how he
presented lessons of compassion and respect."
Leeann Smith, Media Specialist Glen Arden Elementary
Arden, North Carolina

"Paul spoke with the grace of a storyteller, the passion of an animal lover, and
the knowledge of an educator. It was beautiful to observe a children's author
who knows how to relate to real children in a real school."
Connie McElrath, Media Specialist Black Mountain Elementary
Black Mountain, North Carolina

"When we invited Paul to our school, we expected to learn about the writing process, publishing, and
the 'glamour' of being an author.  Not only did he exceed our expectations as a storyteller and author, he
shared his gift of compassion for others and his love for life.  His interaction with our students and the time
he spent with our (students with special needs) was incredible!!  Our students are still talking about the day.
What a blessing to be able to make such a difference both academically and therapeutically."
Donna Brackett, Literacy Coach, Upward Elementary School
Flat Rock, North Carolina

"Fascinating, informative, and highly captivating! Paul Howey is an asset,
not only to animals, but children across the country!"
Tom O'Shea, 5th Grade Teacher, Black Mountain Elementary
Black Mountain, North Carolina

"I loved this true story about Freckles and her puppies.  She is so inspiring to me.
I love Freckles. Another thing I like about Freckles is that I have freckles all over my face.
So that's why I want her to come to our school."
Love,
T.J., 4th Grade / Phoenix, Arizona

"Thanks so much for everything! We surely enjoyed your
visit to Sycamore. All of the grade levels were most complimentary!
That says a lot, as it's hard to find one person who
can tailor his talk to six different grade levels!"
Margaret Beville, Media Specialist, Sycamore Elementary
Buford, Georgia

"Paul Howey's visit is one that will impact our students and staff
for years to come. Not only is his book, Freckles, an excellent
illustration of caring and compassion, but his
presentation is an inspiration to writers of all ages."

Luanne Poss, Media Coordinator, W.D. Williams Elementary
Swannanoa, North Carolina

"We were very fortunate to have had Paul Howey speak at our Family Reading Night.
Students and adults alike thoroughly enjoyed the story...
We highly recommend Paul Howey and Freckles!
Homestead Elementary votes for Freckles as the #1 Dog Hero in America!!!"
