crossnore academy
Friday, January 7:
Paul, Trish, and
Freckles met with
the entire student body of Crossnore Academy, a
residential school in Crossnore NC, about 75 miles
northeast of Asheville. The 80 students, ranging from
kindergarten to seniors in high school, came up with
some great, first-ever questions for Paul. They had
all read Freckles before we got there and were really
ready! The principal even suggested the possibility of
having Paul return to do a writing workshop.
carolina day school
Monday, January 10: Paul and a great (and tolerant!)
group of elementary students were videotaped for the
Pet News Network television show. Paul told six animal
stories for six segments of "Kids Korner." To allow for
different camera angles, Paul told each story twice, and
the kids were super at looking interested each time!
leicester elementary
Tuesday, January 11: Paul met one-on-one with a
most remarkable young man. Jonathan is a fourth
grader and his wonderful teacher is Anna Austin.
Jonathan has dreams of becoming a famous author
one day. Paul read several stories he's written and
believes he very likely will soon be known far and wide
for his writing.

Friday, January 14: Paul and
Freckles spoke to the
350 K-5 students of this great school in west Asheville NC. We
made lots of new friends and answered many thoughtful
questions.
barnes & noble
Saturday, January 22: Paul, Trish, and Freckles are shown here
with Doc, the visionary manager of the Barnes & Noble store in
Asheville NC. He told us we had the most successful book
signing in the history of the store. Much of that success is the
result of his enthusiastic support. We met tons of people,
including
some kids who apparently hadn't gotten enough of us when we
visited their
schools! Some of our new friends from Leicester
Elementary and
Hall Fletcher Elementary "dragged" their parents
and grandparents
down to the store so we could meet them, too.
What a fun time!

caring for children
Friday, January 28: Paul, Trish, and
Freckles met with the administration and staff of
Caring for Children, an extraordinary group of people serving
children and need through the organization's seven residential
facilities in Asheville NC. Hopefully, Freckles will soon become a
regular visitor with these great kids.
