Kyrene de la
Colina Elementary
Tuesday, December 2:
Paul and Freckles spoke to more
than 600 students at this elementary school in Ahwatukee,
Arizona. The kids showered them with dozens of great
questions!
One of the neatest things about doing these
school talks is
that we frequently get letters and pictures from the students
we've met. This is one of letters we received from Colina:
Dear Freckles,
You are the cutest dog ever... You're a good little dog.
I'm glad you made Tommy talk... I bet people all over the
world would love you because you can help people feel
better. I hope you were ok when those hawks or wolves
or coyotes attacked... I wish I was a dog!
Sincerely,
Ari
TEMPE FESTIVAL OF THE ARTS
Friday thru Sunday, December 5-6-7:
Freckles, Paul, and
and Trish met thousands upon thousands of the 250,000+
people who attended this year's huge gathering of artists
and writers. While Trish talked and Freckles was being
petted, Paul signed books. The people loved Freckles'
story and were buying her book at the rate of more than one
every ten minutes! Freckles sure slept well every night of
the festival (and so did Trish and Paul!).

Here Freckles and her humans greet a young
visitor to
their booth.
Kyrene de la
Sierra Elementary
Monday, December 8:
Although Freckles had worked three
straight eight-hour days, she could hardly wait to get to this
other Ahwatukee elementary school and see all her young
pals. Many of the students in this school know Freckles
personally because they live in her neighborhood and see
Trish and Paul walking her and the other dogs almost every
morning! So many kids had already checked out the library's
two copies of Freckles that the school bought a third copy!

Mrs. Gavin, Sierra's Library Media Specialist
greets Freckles
and Paul and Trish.
Homeward bound/ymca
Thursday, December 11: Today
was a very special day! This
was Freckles' and Trish's regular visit with their toddler friends at
this daycare center. This time, however, Freckles came wearing
reindeer antlers and had some for the kids to wear, too! Freckles
gave each of the eight kids there bags with candy canes and
presents. Paul also gave the center another copy of Freckles
so each of the youngsters can look at their favorite dog, even
when she's not there. The kids love Freckles!!!
Kyrene de la
MARIPOSA Elementary
Friday, December
12:
Paul and Freckles spoke to all the
kindergarten, first, second, and third grade classes at this
school in Tempe. Many of the students had already read
Freckles' book and so they were loaded with lots of interesting
questions!
CHANGING HANDS BOOKSTORE
Saturday, December
13: This was our very first official bookstore
book signing! Lots of friends stopped by, and that was very much
appreciated. Also, made a lot of new friends as people took time
from their holiday shopping to get to know Freckles. Many thanks
to Pinna and Ann and Jay and all the great people at this wonderful
bookstore. (Photo below courtesy of our good friends Donna and Ed
Berger, of Phoenix.)

POINT HILTON SQUAW PEAK RESORT
Tuesday, December
30: Freckles went to "Coyote Camp" and was
a big hit with children and their parents who had come from across
the country and from Europe to spend their holidays at this wonderful
Phoenix resort! Paul told Freckles' story and shared some tips to
help youngsters interact with animals they might meet. Jane
Owens
runs the Coyote Camp at the resort and obviously has as much fun
as
the kids do. Thanks, Jane, for this great opportunity!

After the talk at Coyote Camp, Freckles hung out with her new friends
Joshua and Oliver from England.
